Add some muck!

We are busy adding manure to gardens at this time of year. This means incorporating organic manure into the soil which adds nutrients to plants and helps with drainage, soil structure and water retention. This is most important in vegetable gardens although is still good in flower beds. If you haven't already incorporated manure into your garden start thinking about doing it before the spring for the best impacts on soil fertility. It isn't a good idea to start digging saturated soil as it will mess up your soil structure and will be much harder work. Waiting for some dry weather is best, then manure can be dug into the soil.
